Apple Event
This article is a short review of the important points of the Apple event on 20/04/21. In short there
were three major announcements along with some smaller and briefer ones.
First of all AirTags by Apple, the Near Field Communication (NFC) tags, which you can put on to
something or attach to something so that if that thing is lost you can find it with the help of the Find
My App on the iPhone. It is much more well thought out than the regular tiles and even has a user
replaceable battery. The battery lasts for about a year. The price of these tags is $29 for one piece
and there is a pack of four priced at $99 which is equivalent to INR 3,910 and INR 10,900 respectively
in India.
The next thing that this event unfolded to us was the iMac getting an enormous refresh with it being
more efficient with Apple’s own M1 chip increasing its performance a lot. It is also a piece of brilliant
engineering as it is only 11mm making it just slightly thicker than a normal smart phone. It was
announced that it will be available in 7 different colours. Its Indian price will be Rs 1,19,900 including
accessories such as the keyboard with a touch id sensor and their own mice all in 7 different colours
with 4 ports, two being thunderbolt ports, and its Ethernet port is connected to the charger.
The next refresh was of the iPad pro 2021 getting a micro led 120Hz refresh rate screen which
means it can show better blacks and dim each individual pixel according to its need. It has the M1
chip which is the same chip as in the iMac and this means more improved performance to make it
even more ahead of the tablet race. Its Indian price will be around Rs71,900.
Lastly some small announcements like the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini getting a new purple colour
refresh along with its own purple colour MagSafe case.
These were the important highlights of the 20/04/21 Apple event.
