Bannerghatta Tiger and Lion Reserve is situated in the southern Karnataka about 22 km
away from Bangalore. The reserve is a vital elephant corridor that is a section of a larger cluster
including the Waynad Sanctuary.

Flora (trees)
Mix of dwarfed deciduous trees and deciduous broad-leafed trees and patches of the
Sathyamangalam forest.
Fauna (animals)
Tigers, lions, leopard, Asiatic elephant, barking deer, spotted deer, bison, four horned antelope,
etc.
Avian fauna (birds)
Grey Jungle Fowl, Partridges, Flycatchers, Cuckoos, Ibis, Parakeets, Storks, Sunbirds, Flower-
Peckers, Eagles, Minivets, Wood Peckers, Wagtails, etc.
Getting there
The closest railway station and airport to the reserve is in Bangalore. Regular services of
Karnataka state transport buses and Bangalore city buses connect Bangalore with the tiger
reserve.
Tourist information
There are almost no accommodation facilities within the reserve. Different hotels, resorts and
guest houses in the Bangalore city with different budget are available for lodging.
The tourists can visit the Bannerghatta Zoo which is located within Bannerghatta Tiger and
Lion reserve. The zoo comprises of Butterfly Park, Reptile Park and Zoological Museum. Tiger
and lion jeep safaris are a great way to see the big cats of the reserve.
