Boat journey Princep Ghat to Tribeni Para (Class 5)
Last Sunday in the morning my parents and two other families started our journey by boat from Princep
Ghat in Calcutta to Tribeni. As we got into the boat we could feel the gentle morning breeze blowing
into our faces. It was early in the morning and the sun was beginning to peep out of the horizon, the
scenic beauty on either side was quite beholding to watch. The birds were flying all over in the sky. The
fishermen were casting their nets in the river water to catch fish. Many boats were also sailing through
the river. When any streamer passed by, the small boats that were close to the streamer were tossing
up and down the waves. It was also a great experience to see the vast open paddy fields meeting the sky
at the horizon. On our way, we also saw men and women bathing at the ghats (steps leading to the
water front). The children were having a lovely time by diving and swimming around the ghats. All these
activities added a human touch to the river. The river was looking more beautiful in the evening. We
could see the river water sparkling under the crimson rays of the evening sun. The day glided by even
before we could realize it but it left its mark in our memory.
