DHAKNA KOLKAZ WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Dhakna Kolkaz Wildlife Sanctuary is nestled in the state of Maharashtra along the forest-clad valleys of the Dolar and Sipna rivers. It is named after Dhakna village and Kolkaz village which are located in the vicinity. The Melghat Tiger Project is situated here.

Gorgeous peacock, gray jungle fowl, hawk, owl, etc.

Getting there
The closest airport is in Nagpur, about 230km away. The closest railway station is at Achalpur, around 60km away. However, the Badnera railhead (about 124km) is the most convenient railhead for the visitors to Dhakna Kolkaz Wildlife Sanctuary.

Chikaldara is located a few kilometers away from the sanctuary. Chikaldara is well connected with regular State Transport and private buses from Nagpur, Amravati (100km) and Mumbai (763km).

Tourist Information
Visitors to Dhakna Kolkaz Sanctuary can stay at the Semadoh Forest Lodge. MTDC self contained dormitory and rooms are another option for the tourists. The check out time of the MTDC lodging centres is 12.00 noon.

Several water sports are organised by the MTDC at Chikaldara for the incoming visitors. Besides water sports, trekking, wildlife photography and nature trail are the other popular tourist activities in the sanctuary.

Maintain safe distance from the wildlife and do not tease or instigate them. Avoid flash photography and wearing flashy attires and strong perfumes during your trip to the forest reserve. The sanctuary houses several waterfalls and lakes, which are worth visiting.
