GUNDLA BRAHMESWARA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Gundla Brahmeswara Wildlife Sanctuary is placed on the Gundla Brahmeswaram plateau in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is nestled along the lovely Nallamallai hill range. Gundlakamma River passes through the sanctuary on its eastern side.

Flora
Forest type: mixed deciduous forests.
Trees: Pterocarpuss, Teak, Terminalia, Anogeissius, Albizzia, Boswellia, Bamboo, Dalbergia, Andug and Shisham.

Fauna
Endangered species: Chinkara, black buck, pangolin, nilgai, chausingha, etc. Other species: Tiger, mouse deer, panther, bonnet monkey, hyena, monitor lizard, sloth bear, marsh crocodile, python, etc.

Getting there
Kurnool is the nearest major transport centre to Gundla Brahmeswaram Wildlife Sanctuary. It is well connected to different parts of the state with frequent bus and taxi services. Hyderabad airport is the closest airport. The nearest railway station is the Nandyal railway station (about 30km away) and the Kurnool railway station, about 100km away.

Tourist Information
Forest rest house at Diguvametta and Inspection bungalow at Nandyal are available for accommodation. The topography of the sanctuary is uneven and rugged in many places. Hence, wear comfortable clothes and strong shoes while making a trip to this beautiful protected reserve. Trekking, jungle safaris, bird spotting and nature walks are important pastimes of the visitors here. Early morning wildlife safaris are the best way to explore and spot different wildlife of the reserve.
