INTANKA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Nagaland about 111 km away from Kohima and around 37 km
from Dimapur. It was established as a wildlife sanctuary on 22 April 1975.

How to Get There
The closest railway station and airport are located in Dimapur. By roadways it can be easily reached
from Dimapur and Kohima. Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary is linked to different parts of the state through
National Highway 39.
Tourist Information
Tourists can find accommodation at PWD Inspection Bungalow and at Circuit House in Nagaland with
prior reservation. One can also opt to stay at the forest rest house. Jungle safari, bird safari, hiking and
trekking are popular past times of the people in the sanctuary. Tree top Machans (watch station) enable
the visitors to view the bird in their natural habitat. The Dimapur - Kohima - Fakim - Intanki Sanctuary is
the most famous tourist circuit in the area.
The tourists are advised to stay at safe distance from the wild animals. No one should try to touch, feed
or chase the animals. Always remain calm and do not make noise during the wildlife sightings. Travel
light and do not wear heavy jewellery or carry too much luggage. Wear light, comfortable clothes with
green or khaki shades that blend well with the forest background. Carry sunscreen lotion, sun glass and
hat as protection against the sun’s heat. Also carry a powerful camera or binocular to make your
experience in Intanki Sanctuary a memorable one.
