KANE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Kane Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the picturesque state of Arunachal Pradesh. The River Siji and
its tributaries flow along the north-west edges of the sanctuary.
Notifications: Wildlife sanctuary in 1991; Re-notified as wildlife sanctuary in April 2007.
Flora
Semi-evergreen forest, sub-tropical broadleaf hill forest, tropical evergreen forest, bamboo
plantations and many different shrubs and herbs.
Fauna
Lions, Gaur, Black Bear, Panthers, Wild Dog, Small Cats, Deer, Elephant, etc.
Avian Fauna
Rufous-necked Hornbill, White-winged Wood Duck, Sibia, Broad-billed Warbler and many more.
Getting there
Closest airport to the sanctuary is at Lilabari (approximately 274km) in Assam and at Along. The
nearest railway station is at Silapathar in Assam. From here the tourists can hire a car or a bus and
reach Kane Wildlife Sanctuary. Kane sanctuary is well connected with different parts of the state via
Tawang-Tezpur Road. One can also approach the sanctuary from Tawang by hiring a taxi or a bus.
Tourist Information
Government guest houses, forest rest houses and Jungle resorts are some of the staying options for
the visitors. Anchal Samity Bhavan, Along Circuit house and different private hotels are available for
lodging close to the forest reserve.
The rules and regulations of the Indian Government’s Wildlife Protection Act are applicable to all the
visitors. Hence, carefully read the forest guidelines before proceeding. Carrying pets, explosive
items, littering, playing loud music and drinking inside the reserve area are strictly prohibited.
Maintain safe distance from the wild animals and avoid teasing them.
