Kawal Tiger Reserve is nestled in Adilabad district’s Jannaram forest in Andhra Pradesh. It
was initially set as a prime tiger hunting ground for the Nizam of Hyderabad. The famous
Kadam River flows through this reserve.

Flora
Forest Type: Dry deciduous forest
Plants: Bamboo, Teak, Cassias, Pterocarpus, Terminalia and Anogeisus.
Fauna
Leopard, nilgai, cheetal, gaur, sloth bear, panther, barking deer, Indian Bison and sambar.
According to an unofficial count, around 20 tigers have been spotted in the Kawal Tiger
Reserve.

Getting there
Mancherial railway station (about 50 km away) is the nearest railway station and Hyderabad
airport is the closest airport. This tiger reserve is situated at a distance of about 260 km away
from Hyderabad. Nearest bus terminal is at Mancherial town, which in turn is well connected
with Hyderabad through regular bus services.
Tourist Information
Forest Rest House at Jannaram provides quality accommodation for the incoming tourists. One
can also opt to stay in the Hyderabad/Secunderabad city where different hotels and guest
houses are easily available.
The watch towers located at different spots in the reserve offers excellent bird viewing
experiences. Viewing sunrise and sunset from the watch towers at Alinagar and Donga pa is a
life time experience.
