KHAWNGLUNG WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Khawnglung Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the state of Mizoram about 170 km away from
Aizawl. It was declared a wildlife sanctuary in the year 1991.

The endemic fauna species that are prevalent in this sanctuary are Leopard, Himalayan Serow,
Hoolock Gibbon, Sambhar, Barking Deer and so on.
Getting there
Silchar is the closest railway station to Khawnglung Wildlife Sanctuary. Nearest airport is at
Lengpui. The sanctuary can be easily accessed by road from Aizawl (Mizoram) and Silchar (Assam).
Quality accommodation can be availed in the nearby towns of Aizawl and Silchar. The topography
of the sanctuary is hilly and uneven. Hence, the tourists are recommended to wear strong shoes
with better grip and comfortable clothes to easily move across the forest.
During the monsoon season the sanctuary and its surrounding areas receive heavy rainfall. So avoid
making any trip to the forest during the rainy months.
