KRISHNA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh, close to the Avanigadda village. It is considered to be one of the last surviving mangrove forests in the estuary of Krishna River. The sanctuary is named after the famed Krishna River that flows through it.

Flora
Tumma, Peepul, Mango, Palmyra, Spinifex littoreus, Date Palm, Cassia auriculata, Spinifex squarrosus, Pongamia gladra, Calotropis gigantean, etc.

Fauna
Jackal, Garden Lizard, Land Tortoise, Sambar, Bear, Hyena, Black Buck, Estuarine Crocodile, Cobra, Fishing Cat, Tree snake, etc.

Avian Fauna
Indian Roller, Crested Serpent Eagle, Pipitis, Wagtails and many more.

Getting there
The closest railway station to Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary is approximately 80 km away at Vijayawada. The nearest aerodrome is at Hyderabad. By road the sanctuary is well connected with different major cities and towns of the state.

Tourist Information
Repalle rest house in Guntur district and Vijayawada rest house offer comfortable accommodation facilities to the tourists. These rest houses belong to the Forest department.

Driving after sunset, carrying pets and inflammable items inside the sanctuary is prohibited. Refrain from feeding wild animals and making loud noise. Ghantsala, Bhattiprolu and Bhattiprolu Maha Stupa are some of the popular places of interest in and around Krishna sanctuary.
