KULDIHA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Established in the year 1984, Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the state of Odhisa. It is
separated from the Similipal forest by Gagua and Sukhuapata hill ranges. Uastal Nala, Kamala,
Tangana and Basudhar are four small rivers that pass through the sanctuary.
Flora
Forest cover: Deccan peninsula moist mixed deciduous forest and peninsular (coastal) Sal forest.
Trees and plants: Rai, Bani, Sal, Orchids, etc.
Fauna
Tiger, elephant, leopard, sambar, gaur, giant squirrel, viper, cobra, pythons, land monitor, burrowing
pangolin, etc.
Avian Fauna
Hornbills, myna, peafowl, patridge, jungle fowl, kite, etc.
Getting there
Balasore Junction about 3km away is the nearest railway station to Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary.
Jamshedpur airport, about 167km away, is the closest airport. One can easily get taxi or private car
near the railway station and the airport to reach the sanctuary. OSRTC (Orissa State Road Transport
Corporation) buses ply regularly to the Forest Range.
Tourist Information
Rest sheds and Rest houses located at important locations close to the border of the Kuldiha
sanctuary can be availed for staying. Visitors can find accommodation at forest rest houses situated
at Kuldiha and Jadaclhuan with prior reservations.
Trekking, natural trails and wildlife spotting are favourite pastime of the tourists here. A trek to the
middle of Kuldiha forests from Nilgiri is an unforgettable experience. The famed temple of Lord
Jagannath situated at Nilagiri is an important pilgrim spot.
