Lone trip by rail (Class 5)
It was 6 a.m. on a Saturday morning. I am surrounded by people's voices. Vendors shouting out their
various items, trying to attract the passing crowd to purchase some of their goods. Invariably you can
hear a squeal of laughter or a baby crying its lungs out. Breaking through all this noise, one can hear the
announcer, announcing the various platforms and train numbers on the loudspeaker. Yes you've
guessed it; these are regular scenes at the Bangalore City Railway Station.
This is my first time travelling alone by train from Bangalore to Chennai, and I am so nervous and
excited. My parents came to drop me at the station and my aunt would pick me up from the other end.
It's my summer vacation and I'm visiting my cousins after a long time. I can't wait to meet them and see
the beautiful beaches with the sun blazing across the sky, fresh juices, the strong smell of salted
peanuts, fish and..screechhhhh...
“Oh my!" My train has just pulled into the station, now I've to board it to start my perfect summer
holiday.
