MAHUADAUR WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Mahuadaur Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Bihar. It was established in the year 1976 to preserve
the grey wolf population of the state. The total area coverage of the sanctuary is about 63 sq km.
The river Burha cuts through the sanctuary.
Sal forest is the endemic vegetation cover of this protected area.
Getting there
The closest railway station to Mahuadaur Wildlife Sanctuary is located about 50km away at
Chhipadwar. The nearest airport is at Ranchi, around 135km away. By road the sanctuary can be
easily approached from Mahuadaur (about 25km) by hiring buses or private vehicles.
Tourist Information
Rest houses and other accommodation are available in and around the sanctuary. Tourists need to
obtain entry permits from the DFO of Mahuadaur Wildlife Sanctuary for venturing into the forest.
Visitors are not allowed to take pets, explosive items, transistors and alcohol inside the sanctuary.
Do respect the privacy of the wildlife life and do not disturb the serenity and calmness of the forest
reserve. Refrain from using perfumes and bright coloured attires, as these may agitate the wild
animals. Always wear green or khaki clothes that easily blend with the forest background.
Carry your own provision of food and water.
