NAINA DEVI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Naina Devi Wildlife Sanctuary is nestled along inner hills of Shivalik Mountain Ranges in Himachal
Pradesh. It is continuous with the Gobind Sagar Sanctuary, located nearby. The sanctuary is named
after the holy Naina Devi Temple that is situated on a hill inside the sanctuary.

Major species: Sisso, Scrub, Pine and Bamboo.

Leopard, yellow-throated marten, Bengal fox, flying squirrel, jungle cat, langur, Indian hare, Indian
krait cobra and rat snake
Getting There
The nearest airport and railway station are located at Chandigarh. Another nearest railhead to Naina
Devi Wildlife Sanctuary is at Anandpur Sahib in Punjab. The wildlife sanctuary is well linked with
different parts of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab through a good network of roadways. In fact
travelling by bus is the best option to reach Naina Devi Sanctuary as the rail link is not properly
developed in the hilly terrains of Himachal Pradesh. The easiest approach to the sanctuary is from
Chandigarh.
Tourist Information
Different budgeted hotels, resorts and guest houses are available around the sanctuary. Home-stay
options are also available. The visitors to Naina Devi Sanctuary are expected to dedicatedly follow
the rules and regulations of the reserve. Do not smoke or throw lighted cigarette buds in the forest
as it can lead to forest fires. Avoid buying products from any individual in and around the sanctuary,
that are made from birds’ or wild animals’ body parts. Keep safe distance from the wild animals and
do not tease or harm them.
Naina Devi Temple is an important religious spot located inside the sanctuary. Gobind Sagar
Sanctuary is another popular tourist place that is located near Naina Devi Sanctuary.
