NAKTI DAM BIRD SANCTUARY
Nakti Dam Bird Sanctuary is nestled along the eastern part of the Chhotanagpur plateau in the state
of Bihar.

Indian Courser, common pochard, red crested, pond heron, swamp patridges, egrets, pintail ducks,
Indian Robin, yellow-wattled lapwing, Indian sandgrouse, etc.
Getting there
The nearest access is the Jhajha town, which is located about 11km away from Nakti Dam Bird
Sanctuary. Jhaja Railway Station is approximately 15km away from the sanctuary.
Tourist Information
There are no accommodation facilities within the sanctuary. Tourists can find quality staying options
in the nearby towns and villages. This bird sanctuary is surrounded by rocky hillocks which offer
great opportunities for bird watching, trekking and wildlife photography.
While going for bird watching expeditions, tourists are advised to take a binocular and bird guide
book with them to identify different bird species. There are no facilities for eating within the bird
reserve. Hence it is always advisable to carry your own food and water. Littering, feeding and teasing
of wildlife and drinking inside the sanctuary are strictly prohibited and charged with hefty fines.
Nagi Dam sanctuary, about 4km from the Nakti Dam is worth visiting.
