NARAYAN SAROVAR WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Narayan Sarovar wildlife sanctuary was constituted as wildlife sanctuary on April 1981. It is situated at Lakhpat taluka in the Kachchh district of Gujarat.

Flora
Forest cover: desert thorn, dry savannah-type vegetation, scrub forests, and seasonal wetlands. Trees and plants: Babul, gorad, desi baval, ber, pilu, hermo, thor, gugal, gando baval, ingorio, kerdo, salai, carissa and others.

Fauna
Wolf, chinkara, caracal, hyena, desert cat, desert fox, ratel, Indian pangolin, porcupine, mongoose, nilgai, hare, etc.

Avian Fauna
Great Indian bustard, houbara bustard, lesser florican, harriers, black partridges, common cranes etc.

Getting there
The nearest domestic airport is at Bhuj (about 115km) and closest international airport is at Ahmedabad (about 515km). The closest railhead to Narayan Sarovar wildlife sanctuary is at Bhuj. Nearby major bus terminal is at Dayapar (nearly 15km away).

Tourist information
GMDC Guest House at Panandhar and dharamshalas at Narayan Sarovar and Matano Math can be availed for staying with advance bookings.
Bustard Sanctuary, Kachchh Great Indian, Narayan Sarovar temple, Matano Math temple, Koteshwar temple, Lakhpat port, etc. are some of the nearby places of interest for the tourists.
