NAUREDEHI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Nestled over Vindhya hills, Nauradehi wildlife sanctuary is the largest wildlife sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh. It was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1975 and is a part of the Cheetah re-introduction Project in India.

Avian Fauna
Kingfishers, Cranes, Egrets, White-rumped vulture, Painted Stork, Black drango, Indian Roller, Purple Sunbird, the rare Spotted Grey Creeper, etc.

How to reach
Closest airports are at Jabalpur (80km) and at Bhopal (210 km). Nearest railway stations are at Sagar and Damoh (direct trains are available from Delhi). Jabalpur railway terminal on Kolkata-Mumbai rail line is another good option to approach Nauradehi wildlife sanctuary. Nearest bus terminals are at Sagar and Rehli. The NH 12 (Jabalpur-Jaipur highway) passes through the sanctuary.

Tourist information
The incoming tourists can find proper accommodation at the Forest Rest Houses. Double barracks and double suites under the management of the forest department is another good option for staying. These are located near the sanctuary’s entrance at Mohli.
Bird watching, trekking, nature photography and jeep safari are prominent tourist activities in the sanctuary. The best places to spot the birds are near the water bodies which include Chiola Lake and Bamner, Kopra and Bearma rivers. The best way to explore and understand Nauradehi sanctuary is by hiring Forest Department guides who are available at the forest entrance. For reservation and other arrangements and information visitors can contact the DFO, Nauradehi (WL) Division, stationed at Sagar.
Rangir, Gauridant Hillock, Rahatgarh, the historical Eran city, Dan Baba and Hulki Mai are some of the popular tourists spots located around the sanctuary.
