Pania Wildlife Sanctuary

Pania Wildlife Sanctuary (also spelt as Paniya) is located in Gujarat and is an essential part of the Gir Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is bounded by Chahchai hills in the north-west and Gir Wildlife Sanctuary in the east and south. It is also popularly referred to as Chanchai-Pania.

Flora
Khair, hermo, desi baval, dhav, gorad, bordi, dudhlo, karamda, saladi, ashitro, bamboo, khakhro, modad, lantana, etc.

Fauna
Major attraction: chinkara and lions.
Other species: Leopard, spotted deer, civet cat, four-horned antelope, hyena, wild boar, blue bull, pangolin and others.

Getting there
The closest railway terminuses are locates at Dhari (about 10km) and Visavadar (around 35km). The airport to Pania Wildlife Sanctuary is at Rajkot, about 150km. The nearest bus terminal is also at Visavadar (about 10km away).

Tourist Information
Tourists can find proper accommodation facilities at the forest guesthouse located at Sasan. Different budgeted staying options are available at Amreli and Junagadh.
The visitors are expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the forest and not to infringe it in any manner. Respect the serenity and tranquility of the sanctuary and do not disturb it any way. Keep safe distance from the big cats.
Sakkarbaug Zoo, Giranar mountains and Gir Wildlife Sanctuary are some of the important tourist spots located in the vicinity of the sanctuary.
