PHULWARI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Phulwari Wildlife Sanctuary is situated on the banks of River Sabarmati in the state of Rajasthan. River Sabarmati divides the sanctuary into two equal halves with several villages surrounding it and it comprises 11 blocks of forest.
Flora
Forest type: northern tropical dry deciduous forest and dry tropical forest.
Plants species: Pteridophytes, Orchids, Bryophytes, Algae, Fungi and numerous medicinal plants.
Fauna
Leopard, Flying Squirrel, Chinkara, Wild Boar, Fresh Water Crocodiles, Rusty-spotted Cat, Sloth Bear and many others.
Avian Fauna
Grey jungle fowl, peafowl, patridge, etc.
Getting there
Udaipur is the closest chief transport centre to Phulwari Wildlife Sanctuary. The nearest airport, railway station and bus terminal are all located in Udaipur. One can easily hire bus, cab or private vehicle to reach the sanctuary from these places.
Tourist Information
Visitors can stay in the Forest Rest House, located within the sanctuary. Numerous hotels, guest houses and resorts of different budgets are available around the sanctuary.
Peace Park, Jain Temples, Luna Vasahi Temple, Guru Shikhar, Nakki Lake and Dilwara Temples are some of the important places of interest situated in the vicinity of Phulwari sanctuary.
Trekking, rock climbing and nature trails are popular activities out here. Jeep safari is the best way to explore the sanctuary.
