RAMPARA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Rampara Wildlife Sanctuary is located approximately 60 km away from Rajkot city, in the state of
Gujarat. It is nestled beside the Machchhu River. It used to be a part of the princely state of Wankaner.
Earlier the sanctuary was used as a shooting area by the royals.

Flora
Forest type: Dry Savannah, Dry deciduous scrub, Acacia Senegal forests and mixture of grassland and
sparse bushes.
Trees and plants: Khair, Gugal, Babul, Ingoriyo, Gorad, Khakhro, Kudi, Hermo, Kadaya, Sisham, bor,
Saledi, etc.
Fauna
Wolf, hyena, hare, common fox, blue bull, jungle cat, jackal and others.
Avian Fauna
Yellow-throated sparrow, purple sunbird, common peafowl, large gray babbler, ring dove, partridge,
sandgrouse, etc.
Getting there
The nearest bus terminal and railway station are located at Wankaner which is approximately 15km
away. The closest airports to Rampara Wildlife Sanctuary are situated in Rajkot city (about 47km) and
Ahmadabad (approximately 270km).
Tourist Information
The tourists can find accommodation at Forest rest house against prior reservation. Trekking and wildlife
sporting are the major tourist activities here. Wear comfortable clothes while visiting the park.
The visitors are advised not to use ear phones while roaming in the sanctuary as this may prevent one
from being alerted to any nearby danger. Carrying of pets, hunting weapons and loud music devices
inside the forest are strictly prohibited. Do read all the rules and regulations of the forest before
entering the reserve.
Palaces at Morbi and Wankaner, Khijadia Sanctuary and Marine National Park are some of the famous
places of interest located in the vicinity of the park.
