RUPI BHABHA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Rupi Bhabha Wildlife Sanctuary lies adjacent to the Pin Valley National Park and Great Himalayan Park. It is situated close to Rampur Bushahr in the state of Himachal Pradesh on the bank of the famous Sutlej River. This sanctuary was established in the year 1982.

Flora
Alpine pastures, dry temperate coniferous, arid broad-leaved coniferous, lower western Himalayan temperate and Kharsu Oak forests

Fauna
Snow leopard, brown bear, Himalayan tahr, blue sheep, fox, ghoral, etc

Avian Faun
Yellow-billed Chough, Black-throated Jay, Nutcracker, White-capped Redstart, Streaked Laughing Thrush, Wren, Black Tit, Orange-flanked Bush Robin, Western tragopan, Crested Black Tit, Wall Creeper and Wagtail

How to get there
The nearest airport, bus terminal and railhead are located at Shimla. One can also hire different private vehicles from Shimla to reach the sanctuary. Tourists can also take National Highway No. 22 to reach Rupi Bhabha wildlife sanctuary.

Tourist information
Two field hostels that are located inside the sanctuary and are run by the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board can be availed for lodging. One is located close to Surge Board, Rampur Bushehr and the other is at Katgaon. A hut at Salaring and a Forest Rest House at Rupi are other staying options for the incoming tourists.

Trekking and camping are major activities in the sanctuary. Carry necessary trekking items and enough water for your trekking expeditions. The roadway tracks within Rupi Bhabha sanctuary are limited and so the most part of the forest has to be explored by walking.
