SAMASPUR BIRD SANCTUARY

Samaspur Bird Sanctuary is situated at the Rohaniya Development Block in Salon in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is nestled along the Lucknow-Varanasi highway and comprises Samaspur and six other attached lakes.

Flora
Tree species: Mango, Mahuwa and Shesham.
Plant and grass species: water hyacinth, Sarpat, different rare medicinal herbs etc.

Avian Fauna
Migratory birds: Greleg Goose, Showler, Pin Tail, Vision, Common Teel, etc. Resident bird species: Kingfishers, Comb Ducks, Whistling Teels, Vultures Spoon Bills, Spot Bills, Surkhab and others.

Getting there
The closest located airports are at Lucknow (122km) and Allahabad (120km). From Lucknow airport tourists can hire buses or private vehicles and reach Samaspur sanctuary via Salon-Unchahar road. The nearest railhead to Samaspur Bird Sanctuary is at Unchahar (about 14km) and the closest bus terminus is at Salon. This bird reserve is well connected with difffernet parts of the state through National Highway Number 22. Lucknow-Varanasi road is also linked to this sanctuary.

Tourist Information
Tourists can find comfortable lodging at the PWD Inspection House at Salon against prior booking with the Executive Engineer, P.W.D, Rae Bareli. Food is not provided here, so visitors need to arrange their own meals.
The lakes of the bird reserve are the best places to spot different colourful birds and nearly twelve different varieties of fishes.
Indira Gandhi Memorial Botanical Garden, Behta Bridge Rae Bareli, Gangeshwar Mandir, Mansa Devji Mandir, Shri Jag Mohaneshwar, etc. are some of the nearby popular tourist places that are worth visiting.
