SAMSUNG - A series Or M series
Recently there is a question coming up regarding people buying the SAMSUNG M series or
A series. If we put A series and M series phones side by side there isn’t much of a difference
in the specs but the M series is much cheaper than the A series, for example the price of the
SAMSUNG A31 in INDIA IS Approximately Rs.22,000 where as the M31 is priced at a
significantly lower Rs.17,000 and the specs don’t justify the price of the A31, at the first
place it has a lower 20 megapixel front facing camera compared to the 32 megapixel
camera of the M31 even its 5000 MAh battery is smaller than the 6000 MAh battery of the
M31. It seems obvious for you should buy the M31on account of pricing! But on the
contrary, the ‘Samsung A series’ also has some additional features that gives it an edge
over the ‘M series’. Firstly, the A series is the mainstream series after the S series. This
series gets one android OS and ONE UI (which is Samsung’s own skin) updates which
basically means before the M series the A series is more likely to get software updates. Now
the M series doesn’t come with guaranteed software updates; whereas the A series comes
with 2 years of updates.
The biggest difference between the M and the A series is SAMSUNG’S Knox security
which is an inbuilt feature that addresses privacy issues of our data being accessed or
stolen by third party web sites and applications. Basically, Knox creates a portal of its own
and it encrypts the data, thus enhancing security. It also tracks each and every app activity
on your phone. Thus, no unwanted app may use the camera or microphone; and if it does
Knox just shuts the app down. Knox cannot be installed by third party software on the M
series. So, in short, the A series is more secured than the M series. If privacy is a matter of
concern, then you may consider the A series Samsung phones, or else the M series is a good
option as well.
