SINGHORI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Singhori wildlife sanctuary is located at Bari Tehsil of Raisen district in Madhya Pradesh. It was set up by
the Madhya Pradesh Government on 2nd July 1976. River Barna and river Ghoghara are the two streams
flowing through the sanctuary. Bhadaria Kund in Ghoghara River is the permanent water source of the
Singhori sanctuary.
Flora
Vegetation cover: Tropical Mixed deciduous forests and Teak forests.
Major tree species: Teak, Bija, Saja, Daora, Khair, Tendu, Salai and Bamboo
Fauna
Tiger, Sambhar, Leapord, Wildboar, Chital, etc.
Tourist Information
Tourists can find quality accommodation in the sanctuary at the Forest Rest House at Bumhori, Bamhori
and PWD Rest House at Bari. It is always advisable to carry mosquito coils/repellents if one intends to
stay in the accommodation centres around the sanctuary.
Bird viewing and jeep safari rides are popular tourist activities in this protected area. Cooking, littering,
drinking and honking within the reserve are not allowed. The best places to view birds and the wild
animals are near the banks of the river Barna and river Ghoghara. Swimming in these rivers is not
allowed. For reservation or any queries the tourists can contact the DFO, Obedullaganj Division.
Bhandariya Temple, Choukigarh Fort and Caves of Jamgarh are nearby tourist spots that the tourists can
visit. During the Shivratri festival a fair is organised in different temples that are located within the
sanctuary.

The nearest airport and railway terminals to Singhori wildlife sanctuary are located in Bhopal. The
closest bus stands are situated at Raisen, Silvani, Badi Barely and Bhopal.
