TALLEY VALLEY WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Arunachal Pradesh, about 30km from Ziro valley which is the headquarters of Lower Subansiri district. It was declared a wildlife sanctuary on 4 th December, 2010. The Pange, Karing, Subansiri and Sipu rivers flow through this sanctuary. Talley Valley sanctuary is a store house of diverse range of rare fauna and flora. Hence, it is also referred to as Biodiversity Zone.

Flora
Forest type: sub-tropical and alpine forests.
Flora species: silver fir, pine, bamboo, ferns, orchids and rhododendron.
The main attraction of Talley Valley sanctuary is its colourful rare orchids. Pleioblastus Simone is a rare species of bamboo that is only found in this sanctuary.

Fauna
Clouded Leopard, Mithun (cross-breed of Buffalo and Wild Gaur), Talley vipers, etc.

Avian Fauna
Long-billed wren-babbler, tragapon, etc.

Getting there
Closest airport to Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is located at Tezpur. From the airport the visitors can easily hire cars and reach the sanctuary. Many state government buses are also available from Itanagar and North Lakimpur to Ziro valley.

Tourist Information
Quality accommodation is available in and around the sanctuary. Trekking, nature trail and bird watching are favourite pastimes of the visitors in this sanctuary. Trekking trail from the Talley valley to the Ziro town and the adjacent villages offer some unique experience to the trekkers. The trekking route comprises Hong village - Pange - Moko - Talley Valley.
The Pange Camp, which is approximately 7km away from Manpolyang, is the gateway to the Talley Valley Reserve. Carry your own water and food provisions inside the sanctuary. Fishing and hunting inside the forest area are banned. Do not tease the wild animals and pluck or damage the flowers and leaves of the forest flora.
