UDANTI AND SITANADI TIGER RESERVE - Chhattisgarh

Udanti and Sitanadi Tiger Reserve comprise the total area of Sitanadi and Udanti Wildlife Sanctuaries in Chhattisgarh and are also the management areas of these two sanctuaries. Notifications: Tiger Reserve: 2008

Flora
Vegetation cover: mixture of moist and arid deciduous forest and moist peninsular forest; subtropical and tropical forest along the low-lying ravines of streams and rivers. Trees: Ghont, Tinsa, Salai, Teak, Sal, harra, mahua, tendu, semal, etc.

Fauna
Tiger, Leopard, Panther, Asiatic Wild Buffalo, Indian Wolf, Mouse Deer, Four-Horned Antelopes, Gaur, Blue Bull, etc.
Tiger density in this reserve is quite low. As per the last tiger census report there are about 54 tigers in the region.

Avian Fauna
Tree-pie, crimson-breasted barbet, egret, heron, peafowl, magpie robin, racket-tailed drongo, bulbul, etc.

Getting there
The closest railway station is 95 km away at Dhamtari. Raipur airport is the nearby airport to the reserve. The Raipur-Deobhog highway passes close to Udanti & Sitanadi Tiger Reserve. One can hire a private vehicle or a bus to reach the reserve from Dhamtari or Raipur.

Tourist information
There are few Forest Department rest houses within the reserve that are available for accommodation with prior booking. One can also stay in the overnight camps that are arranged by the Range officers.
The reserve has some breath-taking waterfalls that are a must-see for the tourists. Tourists are advised to wear olive green or khaki shade clothes that will enable them to easily blend with the forest environment.
